Speech-Language Pathology (B.S.)

Students in the B.S. Speech-Language Pathology will explore cutting-edge evidence-based knowledge in the discipline, effective and ethical clinical behavior, and the practice of strong interpersonal, inter-professional, and advocacy skills. These are all critical attributes for students and professionals in the health sciences and education fields. This preparation will facilitate successful admission into a master’s program in speech-language pathology, the pathway to clinical, supervisory, or academic positions, as well as active participation in leadership roles within local, state or national associations. [84 credits]

The curriculum in the Speech-Language Pathology program includes prerequisite coursework required for teacher certification and preparation for graduate study leading to professional license, courses that focus on basic communication and swallowing processes, and courses in speech-language pathology and audiology. Students will take part in community service and clinical practice, activities that will enhance their ability to be successful in a Master’s degree program.

Students enrolled in the Speech-Language Pathology program will:

  • Be prepared for graduate studies in communication sciences and disorders and/or related disciplines
  • Through academic opportunities with the department and collaborative partners that reflect the current and future direction of the field, students will develop the tools and skill set to engage in scholarship.
  • Participate in supervised clinical activities that support interaction with the community as a partner in the provision of high-quality clinical services.
