Add, Drop, or Withdraw from Course

Add/Drop (class schedule changes)

  • Students may not enter a course after the add/drop period ends. See the academic calendar for more information
  • Courses which the student drops prior to the end of the add/drop period will not be recorded on the academic record
  • Course "drops" after the deadline are recorded as withdrawal (W grade)
  • All changes in course selections must have the approval of the Faculty Advisor (major)

Waitlist Status

The waitlist function and the waitlist ranking process is an automated system managed in Self Service by the Registrar’s Office per the academic departments’ curriculum standards. Exceptions require permission of the course instructor and the program director or department chairperson.

  • Students add their name to a section waitlist in Student Planning
  • If a seat or spot becomes available and the student is next on the waitlist, the student will receive an email notice in their Sage Gmail account from the Registrar's office, registrar@sage.edu
  • The waitlist notification specifies a deadline (24 hours) by which the must go to Student Planning and register for the class
  • If the students misses the specified deadline, they will lose the available seat and their place on the waitlist

Course Withdrawal

  • Students who withdraw from a course after the add/drop period will receive a grade of “W” on their academic record for that course
  • All withdrawals from courses must be initiated by the student and are processed by the Registrar’s Office. To withdraw from a course, students must complete the UG Course Withdrawal Request Form (available in Self Service) This form requires the approval of their faculty advisor (major)
  • The last day to withdraw from a course is generally the last day of the 12th week of classes. See the academic calendar for specific term dates. The withdrawal process must be completed by or on this date
  • Recommended: students contact the Office of Financial Aid to review their course withdrawal request and provide information on their Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status
  • Students who withdraw from a course must be aware how the withdrawal may affect their financial aid and scholarships eligibility and graduation timeline.
