International and Globalization Studies (B.A.)

Return to: Academic Programs

The major in International and Globalization Studies builds the skills necessary to understand an increasingly interdependent world. The major joins study in economics, modern history, and political science to intensive work in a foreign language. Students find that interdisciplinary perspectives widen their horizons, promote rapid intellectual and personal growth, and can open doors to new and challenging career options in multi-national companies, international banking, government agencies, or international non-profit organizations.

International and Globalization Studies majors complete a required program core of 40 credits. A minor in Communications is an attractive choice for developing additional career options. To further language fluency and to assure a genuine international experience, students should spend a significant time abroad in the country whose language they are studying. Typically, this means a semester of study, but it could also comprise an internship or work-abroad experience.

Students must complete a minimum of 90 credits in liberal arts courses and participate in sone sort of study abroad experience, either short-term or for an entire semester.
